If you’ve always been a bit afraid of wearing colour then the colour blocking trend for this spring/summer is the perfect place to start. Prada, DVF, Amanda Wakeley, Max Mara, Versace, Michael Korrs and Joseph were all showcasing this trend in their collections with popular shades of tangerine, violet, magenta and cobalt. If you’re still not convinced, try the non-committal option and add a pop of colour to your outfit with a statement handbag or heel. Keep in mind that hot flashes of colour look great against nude shades, and steer clear of black as this will give the look a dated feel.
Dolce & Gabbana, Ralph Lauren Collection and Valentino all showcased lace in their spring/summer collections with strong stories in white, nude and black. Silhouettes were extremely feminine, with key details being long sleeves, a nipped-in waist and a high round neck that gave the overall look a vintage feel. Keep this look clean and light with patent heels and zero jewellery.
The seventies’ trend was huge on the catwalks with Gucci, DVF, Fendi and Max Mara all showing elements of this decade within their collections. A great, easy look to incorporate into your day or evening look. Denim flares for day are a great way of tapping into the trend at its most basic and wearable level: wear with a silk shirt and wedge heels. For the evening why not try a lux jumpsuit or halter-neck maxi dress; team it with a bold statement of gold jewellery and flat gemstone sandals.
The nude trend isn’t going anywhere. Designers including Salvatore Ferragamo, Max Mara and Cerruti 1981 showcased it on the catwalk, and for summer the look has taken on a more romantic feel in fabric and shape. To keep your look defined, team luxurious fabrics with butter-soft tan leather accessories for a summer look, perfect for day or evening.
